Pupils and staff were delighted to welcome Education Minister Peter Weir to Jordanstown School on a recent visit. The Minister took time out of his busy schedule to tour the state of the art facilities and meet pupils and staff.
The Minister commented: “I welcome the opportunity to visit the school and meet with all the pupils and staff. This is a key part of my role as Education Minister and one I greatly enjoy. It is always interesting to meet with pupils across Northern Ireland and hear about their different experiences.”
Adam Smith, Principal said: “On behalf of the Senior Management Team and everyone at Jordanstown School, it gave me great pleasure in welcoming Education Minister Peter Weir to our school. I was delighted to give the Minister a tour where he had the opportunity to meet our fantastic pupils, learn some sign language, visit a number of classes, take in a performance from our singing and signing choir and receive a thank you letter in Braille.”
The Minister concluded: “I would like to thank everyone involved in the visit for their warm welcome and I wish all staff and pupils every success for the future.”
Adam Smith finished the tour saying, “I look forward to working with the Minister in continuing to develop Jordanstown School as a leading centre of excellence for young people who are deaf or visually impaired.”
